Everybody Loves Money — Scarlett Sky

Deluxe Edition

Everybody loves money. The interesting part is what people are willing to do once they can smell it.

Everybody Loves Money is Scarlett Sky’s crooked little tour through cash, greed, work, luck, collecting, trading, hustling, investing, begging, digging, fixing, buying and occasionally blowing a hole through a mountain. The songs move from Wall Street screens to pawn counters, private shopping rooms, gold fields, storage lockers, mineral claims and a coffee cup collecting tips on the sidewalk.

Some characters make money. Some lose it. Some dig it out of the ground, find it in somebody else’s junk, move it through contracts, hide it behind respectable titles or simply hold out a cup and ask nicely. They all have one thing in common: once money starts moving, everybody suddenly becomes very inventive.

Track Listing

  1. Making Money — Billy Boy loves the smell of Franklins, the weight of silver and the sight of one more zero appearing on the screen.
  2. Money, Money, Darling — Crypto wallets disappear, Ponzi checks stop arriving, paper silver goes missing and somebody discovers what margin actually means.
  3. Plastic, Plastic — Black-card economics: Tiffany breakfast, private shopping at Saks, Neiman Marcus tea and Monte Carlo by Thursday night.
  4. Professional Beggar — She is poor when convenient, charming when profitable and saving diligently for a Mercedes-Benz.
  5. Bang-Bang Lucky Strike — A broke prospector joins a dynamite crew and discovers that sometimes the shortest route to the mother lode involves explosives.
  6. Treasure Hunters — Storage pickers, wreck salvors, cache hunters and detectorists all live for the same four words: Holy shit, that might be it.
  7. Pawn by Pawn — Meteorites, old guns, Pokémon cards, wartime letters, giant diamonds and dinosaur shit. Somebody wants it. It’ll sell.
  8. Worth a Buck, In the Truck — Blue topaz, garnets, jade, kunzite and the universal rockhound rule: if it might be worth something, load the damn thing.
  9. Fixers, Fixers — Magic Makers, Kingmakers, Gladiators and Cleaners turn problems into leverage and leverage into money.
  10. Everybody Loves Money Flowing — An artist discovers that contracts are optional, customers are useful and cash spends exactly the same whether it arrives by ACH or lands in a coffee cup.

Everybody Loves Money is a blues-jazz cabaret album about the oldest romance in circulation: people and whatever they believe money is going to do for them.
