Oil, Money & Kitchen Sink — Scarlett Sky
From the album Cowboys & Southern Belles
Oil built the map. Money moved the people. The sink stayed put.
“Oil, Money & Kitchen Sink” is a Southern story song about the old oil country northwest of Houston, where boom money, abandoned houses, swamp growth, and family remnants all sit on top of each other.
The song moves through ghost-town roads, Spanish moss, empty houses, old oil infrastructure, and one heavy cast-iron enamel kitchen sink bought for a few greens and somehow still surviving after everything else changed.
Scarlett Sky treats the landscape as evidence: oil shaped where people built, where they left, and what remained behind when the money moved on. The kitchen sink becomes the practical relic in the middle of it all — too heavy to disappear, too useful to throw away, and stubborn enough to outlast the story around it.
