Louisiana Put It in Perspective — Scarlett Sky
From the album Cowboys & Southern Belles
Some roads teach perspective the hard way. Louisiana just does it faster.
“Louisiana Put It in Perspective” is Scarlett Sky’s darkly comic Southern road song about a trip that keeps getting worse until the original problem starts looking small.
The drive runs through the Atchafalaya, white-out conditions on the long bridge, New Orleans heat, Bourbon Street, crawfish, bad stomach decisions, and one ex-boyfriend whose particular brand of nonsense somehow survives all of it in the rearview mirror.
Scarlett tells the story with dry distance rather than sentiment. The point is not that Louisiana fixes anything. It simply gives everybody a larger scale for measuring disaster.
